Eyeing IS at Deir ezzor, SAA Takes Over Al Sukhna

Al Sukhna is only 50 km away from another Islamic state stronghold Deir ez zor, a province almost entirely controlled by the IS militant outfit.

The Syrian government forces and its allied forces have taken over the strategic town of Al Sukhna, the last major town under the control of Islamic State in the Homs Province.

With the takeover, the Islamic State is fast losing ground in the country as they struggle against the offensive launched by government forces with Russian backing.

The Syrian forces took over the key IS stronghold in the Homs province, according to UK based monitor Syrian Observatory for Human Rights after the government forces made advances towards the town earlier last week.

Al Sukhna is only 50 km away from another Islamic state stronghold Deir ez zor, a province almost entirely controlled by the IS militant outfit.

With the advance, reports suggest, the Syrian forces will be making a swift advance towards Deirazor to thwart any Islamic State’s attempts of strengthening their defenses while they face annihilation in Sukhna

Sukhna town is also situated on a key highway that can lead the Syrian forces towards Derazzor.

The IS is also facing offensive in the north of Deirazzor from The US backed SDF who have also registered a victory against the rebel fighters in Raqqa town.

The SDF is also eyeing to make advance towards Deirazzor province along the Euphrates valley, rich in oil and gas resources.
