Bank Strike for Maintaining the Banking Sector's Health: AIBOC's General Secretary
Thomas Franco, the General Secretary of All India Bank Officers Confederation speaks to Newsclick, about the bank strike that started on August 22. He said that bank employees and officers have called the strike, not for their own demands, but for the larger goal of maintaining the banking sector's health. He said that government is trying to alter the social nature of banking sector through privatisation and mergers - to which the unions have opposed. He also said that the people who were responsible for extending bad loans to ineligible borrowers should be held accountable by the government.
