After Your Govt Failed to Listen to Us, We are Holding Kisan Mukti Sansad; Come and Join Us Mr PM

All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee (AIKSCC) National Convenor VM Singh has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to share the concerns of distressed farmers and invited him to join the ‘Kisan Mukti Sansad’ (Farmers Liberation Parliament) being held at Parliament Street.

“After suffering, waiting and hoping,” he said, “we have realised that our voice does not reach you unless we come to Delhi. So, here we are, at the Parliament Street. We are constrained to say that the Parliament has not paid due attention to our plight and has failed to give our entitlements the form of legal rights.”

He said they are holding the farmers’ Parliament to deliberate upon laws that would give effect to the two minimum demands of all farmers of the country:

1. Legally binding assurance of fair and remunerative prices for all the farm products via several measures like greater procurement, deficit payment, effective market intervention, appropriate export-import policy and punitive measures.

2. Farmers to be freed from debt from all sources with the help of an immediate comprehensive and unconditional loan waiver of all institutional agricultural loan to the farmers, backed by an institutional arrangement to settle all non-institutional loans and as a permanent mechanism to deal with farmers’ debt burden on an ongoing basis.

“May we invite you to come to this ‘Kisan Mukti Sansad’ at Parliament Street, to understand the tragedy of farmers and take the draft bill that the farmers will give you. We would wait for you or any of your senior minister,” he said in the letter that has so far not got any response from the government.

After the massive workers’ mahapadav (mass sit-in) on November 9-11, farmers from across the country have come together in Delhi for the ‘Kisan Sansad’, demanding their right to livelihood. The farmers are dismayed at the Modi government for ignoring their plight, and implementing policies, which are making the agrarian crisis worse. They are protesting in Delhi to remind the BJP government of its undelivered promises.
