UAPA – the Unlawful Activity Prevention Act, is the act under which DU faculty, G. N. Saibaba has been recently given life sentence.This video Dossier on the UAPA explains what the act is, what are its implications and how it has been (mis)used to target Minorities, Dalits and Adivasis across the country. A proof of its misuse is that in 2014, around 72 percent of the people booked under this act, were acquitted. The video discusses cases of other victims of the UAPA. It infringes on fundamental rights of citizens. Jyoti Babasaheb Chorge was booked under UAPA in 2011. The only charge against her was possession of Maoist literature.
