No latrines - No Water

According to the Census, in India, out of 170 million rural households, 120 million do not have latrine in their home premises. Among the 50 million households who do have latrines at their homes, 20 million do not have water facility in the premises, making the latrines practically useless. Of the 30 million households that have both latrine and water facility, only 9 million households have access to treated tap water at home. Which means that only 5% of the rural households have access to these basic minimum facilities.
